First-time students will learn about fiction writing and techniques to enhance their storytelling. Students will learn how to write a fictional story, and emphasis will be placed on character development, setting, dialogue, and structure. The class will culminate with each student writing at least one short story, and then sharing it in a supportive environment. Advanced students, who have taken the class previously or who can demonstrate proficiency in storytelling, will be taking part in a fiction writing/critique group. Advanced students will write longer fictional stories, and will discuss and review their work with peers and the teacher. Please bring your own writing journal and pens or pencils.
