Photography Class

Only a few left!

Each week we’ll explore various aspects of photography and visual composition on photo walks as we learn to shoot interesting pictures. The emphasis of class is on the photograph, “seeing”, and photo activities rather than technical aspects of the camera. We’ll occasionally download photos to the computer to review them and use basic photo software to edit the images. Students need to bring a digital camera, an empty memory card, and fresh batteries. If possible, students should also bring a memory stick (flash drive) to class to store their photo projects. Our photo walks are often off campus within a few blocks of CCMS, so permission slips will be sent home to be signed and returned to CCMS by the 3rd class. Note: Students may use a cell phone camera only if they can download the photos to a shared Google or Dropbox folder.

Depending on Covid risk factors reviewing photos may be done via Zoom, and classes may be moved to Virtual.

Dungeons & Dragons

The Hero Workshop is an interactive storytelling workshop where we use role playing games like Dungeons and Dragons as a framework for our epic tale of adventure where the students are the heroes. Everyone in the group will design their own Hero by thinking deeply about what it is that makes someone a hero, and what kind of powers they would like their hero to have. Then we will learn about creating an adventure, and take our Heroes on an imaginative adventure using the fantasy worlds of Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition ruleset.

Here are a list of concepts that students are exposed to in the Hero Workshop:

The Hero's Journey

Storytelling

Making decisions as a group, and cooperation

Cartography (map-making, and map-reading) Basic Math and Statistics reinforcement

Basic Algebra

Logic Puzzles in games

Role Playing Game Design

What makes a Scenario interesting?

Culinary Education

$200.00 - $400.00

Roll up your sleeves, sharpen your knife and get ready for some great recipes that will tantalize the senses and taste buds! Your child will participate in a 100% hands-on culinary experience. This includes the combination of fun, health, safety, nutrition, and a focus on teamwork in order to get each day’s recipes completed. Because your children are not numbers to us, our focus is to cater to each child individually, help them where they need improvement and make sure they have fun!

Everyone is required to wear face masks during food preparation. This ensures that the results of any spontaneous sneezing or coughing by the child is interceded immediately and the remnants are not added to the food the child is making. During class we offer a “mask break” to the kids upon request. This means that the child moves away from the food preparation area, sits or stands, takes their mask off until ready to rejoin the group. This has worked well in all programs during and after the pandemic and gives the kids a great sense of what food safety & sanitation are all about. Click Here to read about our Covid protocol for our classes & camps.
